Infection Control

We believe in a rigorous system of infection and control and universal precautions to protect our patients and our staff. Dr. Goehring believes the basis of a safe dental practice is infection control. We follow the procedures set forth by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Center for Disease Control (CDC), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). These include the following:

  • Gloves and face masks
  • Disinfectant hand soap
  • Chemical disinfection of surfaces and counter-tops
  • Sterilization of all equipment before each and every use
  • An optional step known as spore testing. A test strip is sent off to an independent laboratory for verification that our sterilization unit is doing its job.

We go to extra lengths to ensure patient safety so you can have peace of mind when you visit our practice. If you have any questions about infection control and universal precautions, feel free to discuss them with Dr. Goehring.
