Don't Lose Your Tooth — Root Canal Therapy Can Save It

If you're experiencing severe tooth pain, sensitivity to hot or cold, or swelling near a tooth, you may have an infected or inflamed dental pulp. Root canal therapy is one of the most effective ways to relieve that pain, eliminate the infection, and save your natural tooth — avoiding extraction.

At Goehring Dental Group, Implants. Cosmetic. General Dentistry, Dr. Dennis Goehring and our team use advanced techniques — including Fotona LightWalker SWEEPS® laser root canal therapy — to make the experience as comfortable and efficient as possible.

The Procedure

What Is Root Canal Therapy?

Root canal therapy (endodontic treatment) involves removing the infected or damaged pulp inside the tooth — the soft tissue containing nerves and blood vessels. The tooth is then thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and sealed. A crown is typically placed afterward to protect and restore the tooth.

Step by Step

What to Expect

  • Local anesthesia is administered for your comfort — you should not feel pain during the procedure
  • The infected pulp is removed and the root canals are cleaned and shaped
  • The canal is sealed with a biocompatible material
  • A temporary or permanent crown is placed to protect the tooth
  • Some mild post-operative sensitivity is normal and manageable with over-the-counter medication

We also offer SWEEPS® laser root canal therapy using our Fotona LightWalker system — a minimally invasive approach that improves disinfection and can reduce procedure time. Learn more on our Laser Treatments page.
