Personal Note

In his personal life, Dr. Goehring is an avid motocross rider who also loves surfing at the lake and the ocean, as well as snowboarding. He’s been known to say “I like to work hard and play hard”. Dr. Goehring has 3 wonderful children: Leah, Alexa, and Ian. Dr. Goehring also loves the live music scene in Austin, especially on the local level.

Meet Dr. Jo

JoElla Guagliardo, DDS

Dr. JoElla Guagliardo, DDS, is a compassionate clinician and on a daily basis demonstrates outstanding leadership qualities. As an undergrad and grad student, she earned multiple honors for her work as a top scholar. Today, she’s a member of the team at Goehring Dental in South Austin.

Born and raised in Illinois, Dr. JoElla’s interest in the dental profession was realized early on. During her junior year of high school, a family friend who just happened to be a dentist asked what she wanted to do when she was older. Even back then, she was thinking of going into medicine or pharmaceutical science. He then asked if she’d ever thought about studying dentistry, a path, he said, that would be a perfect fit for JoElla’s unique talents. It wasn’t just her penchant for academics that caught his attention. Seeing her ceramics and sculpture artwork at local art shows convinced the hometown practitioner that she had a future in his chosen profession. And her aptitude for learning and working with her hands also made her a great candidate for pursuing a doctor of dental surgery. 

After careful consideration, JoElla came to the conclusion that spending her days creating beautiful smiles and building relationships with patients were admirable goals. No one was surprised when the honor-roll student and talented athlete won a field hockey scholarship to the University of Iowa. She went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in biology. 

After earning an Oral Health Scholarship Program award to the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, JoElla became an inductee of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society. She also won the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry Student of Merit Award for her outstanding achievement and pursuit of excellence in the undergraduate study of esthetic dentistry. Becoming an International College of Dentists Leadership award recipient provided even more validation of JoElla’s promising future. 

In her clinical work, Dr. JoElla devotes much of her time to developing a close connection and mutual trust with her patients and colleagues. Her passion for improving lives — and smiles — have earned her the respect and admiration of her peers. 

Outside of the office, Dr. JoElla’s hobbies include spending time with friends, cooking, reading, painting, and pickleball. A recent Austin transplant, Dr. JoElla is currently making the most out of exploring all the great restaurants, shops, trails, and parks the Texas capital city has to offer.
